Rotten Crip Collective is a group of queer disabled artists based in london. We are a physical creative meeting space for disabled, neurodiverse, crippled, D/deaf and mad people. Following the social model of disability, Rotten Crip Collective is committed to radical community combating structural loneliness and isolation worsened by austerity . We are making a space where people can connect with other people with disabilities, discuss and create.
We explore disability theory and underpin our workshops and meet with crip theory, research, art and ideas in a non academic and accessible setting, empowering people to see disability research as a current and growing movement towards disability justice. We work together to create new work, new art and research with a focus on archiving and showing disabled lived experience. We dedicate ourselves to only moving as fast as the slowest person, running on crip time, for long term crip liberation over short term productivity or capital.

CURRENTLY:
The collective is currently in residence at The Pie House Co-op (New Cross, London) where we are delivering a three part series of creative workshops which creatively explore disabilities studies in the framework of sci-fi and fantasy. The current series of workshops is a foundation of the way Rotten Crip Collective dedicates itself as a living archive, actively researching through mutual communication, exploration and understanding.
We are building an accessible gallery map which will be hosted here for the time being.
We have a publication open call we aim to be printed for February 2026
We are also looking for a studio or transformable space we can make home to set up a consistent site to work from without packing down each time - please get in touch!
Focused on disability theory and queer/trans/butch identity, Herbert uses his time mark making and thinking about trucks. He explores ideas of strength within stereotypical masculinity and working class existence and how they juxtapose the believed existence of those with physical disabilities. Painter at his core, he is also known to work in printmaking and various other mixed medias.

Arlen is a multidisciplinary artist responding to sites influx in study of living archives and decay. His work is an investigation into what is considered noise and clear access; listening, transreceiving and captioning through analogue media.
Using their lived experience as a chronically ill, queer working class CODA (child of deaf adult) to inform his practice, Arlen graduated Chelsea College of Art in 2025 with a first class honours in BA Fine Art.
Lo Cleary is a queer disabled narrative centred illustrator, their focus is on visualising chronic illness, disability and the queer experience through world building, symbolism and cartooning. They work across multiple mediums to tell stories through comics, illustration, animation, writing and print making.
They graduated in 2025 with a First Class honours in BA Illustration from Camberwell College of Art
Alice works primarily in printmaking and painting to construct personal mythologies that weave the fantastical with the everyday. Their artworks evolve slowly, in crip time, to understand contemporary socio-political contexts through the framework of fantasy, nature and disability.
